uTest updates

January 23rd, 2009 in News, by Head Honcho

Our friends from uTest have a lot to be thankful for for the year 2008.

uTest, a crowdsourcing website which specializes in software applicaton testing, has been growing leaps and bounds since its February 2008 launch. It is experiencing tremendous growth: it has doubled its 2008 fourth quarter revenues, customers and software releases from the previous quarter. It has also increased its membership by 4,000 in the same period.

uTest is somewhat unique in the world of Web 2.0. Drama 2.0 observes that not only are Web 2.0 startups unprofitable, quite a few lack viable revenue models altogether. For instance, while Twitter is massively popular among users, it has not capitalized on its popularity by monetizing its services. In contrast, uTest has a revenue model from its inception, and it is reaping the benefits of its solid business model and increasing membership base.

Despite the growth it is experiencing, uTest is not resting on tis laurels. It has introduced new innovations. The service innovations include:
* Building a seamless integration with popular bug tracking systems,
* Adding features that helped customers to better build their own virtual QA team
* Offering vertical support for testing gaming applications
* Enhancing communication tools between testers, uTest and customers
* Enabling greater reporting around tester coverage

And thanks to a $5 million funding from venture capitalists, we can be sure that the innovations and growth are just getting started.
