Naked & Angry: The Venue for Crowdsourcing Tie Patterns

February 13th, 2009 in News, by Head Honcho

A suit is a necessary article of clothing for every man. There’s not much you can change about the coat and tie ensemble, but many still get it wrong. Deviate from the usual black, navy blue, brown, or charcoal colored suit and you’d be labeled as eccentric, at the very least. Harsher critics will brand you as out-of-date.

That is why it is important to have great neck ties to accentuate your get-up. The tie will make or break your whole look, since it is the article which sets you apart from the rest. If you agree with this, maybe it’s time to ditch that solid-colored tie and go for terrific crowd-designed ties from Naked & Angry.

Naked & Angry is a website created by the same team which gave us Threadless.com. Like Threadless, Naked & Angry invites designers to submit designs - this time, for tie patterns.

Members can come to the site and submit a pattern design. A submitted pattern will then be voted on by other Naked & Angry users. The design will be scored for 14 days at which time it will be given a final score. Other users can likewise comment on the patterns submitted. Winning entries  will be manufactured and products will be created inspired by the patterns.

Designers getting the highest scores will be rewarded by the site. The winners will receive a $750 cash prize and 1 free Naked & Angry item.

If you are interested in submitting a pattern, you have to register as a member of the website. Once a member, you have to prepare a high resolution sample using a design program such as Photoshop or Illustrato. Upload your prepared file together with a required filled-up form. After that, all you have to do is to wait for other members’ thumbs up.

For those interested in the patterns submitted in the site, you can purchase an item which catches your fancy.

Naked & Angry has already amassed great-looking patterns in its catalog on sale for everyone. More will likely follow as there are scores of creative patterns submitted waiting for the crowd’s verdict.

Naked & Angry is not limited to crowdsourced tie patterns. In fact, it has started with its second phase: hand-screened wall coverings. Naked & Angry ultimately aims to manufacture products and garments created from winning pattern designs ranging from ties to tops to pillows to belts to socks to sweaters. The goal is to choose five winning patterns every season to create 5-15 various items. Following the success of Threadless, Naked & Angry is more than likely to reach its objective.
